BARCELONA BLUES
Jelly Roll Morton stressed the importance of what he called "the Spanish Tinge" in jazz. In 1960 Miles Davis and Gil Evans orchestrated the concept with "Sketches of Spain." In 2004 George Braith took his Braithophone to Spain for a series of concerts and gave them the "Barcelona Blues."
George Braith has been developing his two horn concept for over 40 years. The Braithophone is a new instrument, the latest development of this concept. One year before the Spanish concerts and the development of this album the brothers Phil and Dave Wilkerson, organ and guitar players respectively, who had been studying Braith's music recorded by Blue Note, contacted Braith and arranged the tour.
